Glimpse of Alaska
Day 1: Anchorage Arrival Arrival in Anchorage and transfer to your hotel by shuttle or on your own. Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city, nestled between the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet. Offering an abundance of shopping, cultural attractions, and gourmet restaurants, Anchorage provides an excellent start to your vacation. Overnight Anchorage.
Day 2: Anchorage to Seward Today you will drive south to Seward. This scenic journey takes you along Turnagain Arm and into the glacier filled Kenai Mountains. When you arrive the rest of the day is at your leisure. Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center or take part of other excursions offered (not included). Overnight Seward.
Day 3: Seward – Free Day Spend a day touring the Seward area on your own. Visit local attractions, such as Exit Glacier and the Alaska SeaLife Center aquarium, or add an optional tour, like a glacier hike, helicopter dog sledding, or a cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park (not included). Overnight Seward.
Day 4: Seward to Talkeetna This morning, you will head back north on the Seward Highway to Anchorage. Possible stops include the town of Girdwood or the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Anchorage is a great place to have lunch before continuing north to Talkeetna. This route takes you through the Matanuska Valley. Talkeetna is known as a starting point for Mt. Denali climbing expeditions. When the weather is clear, views of the Mountain are spectacular. Overnight Talkeetna.
Day 5: Talkeetna to Denali National Park Continuing to drive northward from Talkeetna, tour the scenic Parks Highway along the boundary of Denali State Park and Hurricane Gulch. The massive peaks of the Alaska Range are in view nearly the entire route. At 6 million acres, Denali National Park is one of the world’s last great frontiers for wilderness adventure. Your hotel will be at the park entrance, where most of the park services and hotels are located. Overnight Denali park entrance area.
Day 6: Denali National Park Today, enjoy an approx. 8-hour bus tour into Denali National Park which leads you approx. 88km into the park (may be shorter in May due to road conditions/weather). The park is inhabited by many different animal species. With some luck you may see bears, caribou, moose, sheep, wolves and a variety of birds. Mt. Denali might be seen if the weather is clear today. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight Denali Park Entrance.
Day 7: Denali to Anchorage Today enjoy your scenic drive back along the Parks Highway to Anchorage. Overnight in Anchorage.
Day 8: Anchorage Departure Return your rental car and depart or start another program.
